Puppy Chow: It’s A Thing And It’s Delicious

Puppy Chow Original 11

The Shake n’ Bake of snacks: my roommate used to make this on weekends and it’s both highly addicting and super quick to assemble (no bake). After stalking hundreds of Puppy Chow photos on the interweb (I blame you, Pinterest), I finally gave it a whirl and came up with my own version. Anything that pairs chocolate and peanut butter is welcome in my world.

Stay tuned for birthday cake flavoured p-chow.

  • 1 ½ cups chocolate chips
  • ½ cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (can omit)
  • 7 cups Chex Rice or Corn cereal (original flavour)
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • ¼ cup melted butter

  1. Measure cereal in bowl and set aside
  2. Measure icing sugar in large ziploc bag and set aside
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in micro for 30-40 seconds. Stir
  4. Mix in vanilla
  5. Pour melted mixture on top of cereal and gently stir until all pieces are evenly coated. If your cereal is not completely coated, the icing sugar will not stick
  6. Pour coated cereal into bag with icing sugar and seal
  7. Gently shake the bag until all pieces of cereal are coated in icing sugar. Add more icing sugar if needed
  8. Place chow into a seal-able container and store in the refrigerator (or everything will melt together)
  9. Chow down
